Learn the basics of genetic engineering and biotechnology and examine why the GMO is politically contentious. Participants will gain an understanding of how science works, its limits, and how the interaction of these factors leads to decision making. In this introductory Food and Nutrition course, you will learn the basics of genetic engineering, explore the political debate around the GMO and review the arguments for and against their use. The politics surrounding the GMO and its impact at both an individual level and to society as a whole; including the problems, perceptions, benefits, and risks associated with GMOs will be studied in this course.

Youth Group Training

FFB is focused on networking, coalition building, social mobilization, and capacity building of public and private university scientists, academics, and students. FFB is working with the universities to develop a university-based Alliance for Science group/Science Club/Youth Groups. FFB has also worked with the Bangladesh Association of Biotechnology Graduates (BABG), a national-level association consisting of more than 1500 graduate biotechnologists from all the reputed public and private universities of the country.

Education

These capacity-building training programs are aimed to build a strategic alliance to advocate and support various campaigns and innovative initiatives in universities, to raise awareness, and to generate public opinion on science, agriculture, nutrition, and food security. Furthermore, Leadership building and mobilization ensuring active and widest possible participation of the youth community and is the objective of the training programs.

Through the youth group training programs, FFB is creating a dynamic, active, and sustainable network of university-based youth groups in concerned universities are established, empowering youth community of science advocates are actively engaged in awareness and leadership building activities and creating opportunities for skill development and engagement of youth group members in youth campaign activities.
