He heads the Bangladesh Alliance for Science and has contributed significantly to Feed the Future South Asia Eggplant Improvement Partnership and the International Rice Research Institute. He has made significant contributions to both national and international development organizations, as well as the media, advertising, and public relations sectors. Anwar Faruque
Advisor- Advocacy and Policy Affairs
Anwar Faruque takes the role of Advisor- Agriculture & Public Administration in FFB. With his extensive expertise in public administration, parliamentary affairs, and agricultural policy and legislation, he has been a valuable resource for government agencies, international organizations, and the private sector. His contributions to the seed industry have been instrumental in improving the quality and quantity of crops, thereby enhancing food security in the country. He has over 40 years experience in several Ministries of Bangladesh, working with Relief and Disaster Management, Cabinet Division, NGO Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office, Finance and Banking, Parliamentary Affairs and Ministry of Agriculture. Mr. Anwar's dedication to his work and his passion for agriculture has earned him widespread recognition and respect. He is a sought-after speaker and has published numerous articles on Food Security in Bangladesh.
Sadique Uddin
Senior Specialist- Project Management & Communication
Sadique Uddin leads outreach and communication activities at FFB. Sadique is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in project management, partnership management, operations management, business development, and communications and public relations. He has coordinated fundraising efforts for his organization from the USDA, USAID, and US Embassy in Dhaka, demonstrating his strong background in program development and project management. Sadique's expertise in leading and managing large-scale projects has enabled him to establish effective partnerships nationally and internationally. He has also worked as a team leader in several organizations, including a World Bank-funded GoB project at IUCN, Zoological Society of London Funded project at WildTeam, and John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health-funded project at Eminence. Sadique is a dedicated and accomplished professional, committed to achieving excellence in all his endeavours.
Gazi Shameem Hosain

Gazi Shameem Hosain looks after accounts, finance & admin as with over 16 years experience in the field. He is an expert when it comes to effective client & vendor relationship, complex issue identification and mitigation, and meeting financial & administrative objectives with innovative solutions. He has completed both M. Com and B. Com in Accounting. Prior to FFB, he has worked with various reputed organisations some of which include, Eusof Group, PRIP Trust, WARID Telecommunications, United Purpose, Powerbreeze Engineering Ltd., Grameen Trust. He also worked in various prominent projects funded by USAID, UKAID, Coca-Cola, and more. Shameem is a salient member of the team who looks after the most tedious challenges.
Ananya Sanyal
Senior Manager- Project Management & Communication
Ananya Sanyal, holds the position of Senior Manager- Project Management & Communication at FFB. She possesses a strong set of skills in the communications sector along with a diverse background in journalism and developmental experience. At FFB, she has an ongoing project titled Global Biotech Potato Partnership (GBPP). She studied Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University. She has over 9 years of experience as a Journalist in BBC Bangla Service, where she has the opportunity to represent renowned political debate show BBC Bangladesh Sanglap as the Press Officer. She has also worked in two distinct initiatives of BRAC, BRAC Education Program and BRAC Migration Program. In addition to this, Ananya worked at Action Aid Bangladesh and Public-Private Partnership Authority.
A M Mahmudul Hasan
Manager - Communication & Outreach
Manager- Communication & Outreach, A M Mahmudul Hasan has been serving in an integral role for 4 years. Behind every successful event of FFB, be it workshop, coalition or training, Mahmud’s neat orchestration and lead is to be praised. He started his career as a freelance event manager, from which he secured an opportunity as an Assistant Director in the film industry through FDC. He then got an opportunity to coordinate and lead the “March for Science” campaign for Cornell Alliance for Science (AFS). Shortly after, he joined as one of the former members of FFB, where he supervised individual components of an event, including public relations, financial budget, community engagement and stakeholder outreach. Following this, Mahmud has over 12 years experience in audio visual production with significant works in several AFS and FTF projects.
Samira Khalil
Assistant Manager- Business Development & External Affairs
Samira takes the form of a backbone in FFB, bringing about cross-departmental harmony and swift execution of duties. She boasts significant expertise in healthcare access initiatives, social ventures, and has a proven track record in leading campaigns, projects, and organizing training sessions to enhance capacity building and business management skills. As a Communication Officer at Technosoft Academy in New York, she facilitated job seminars for multiple Business Associations. Samira researched for a national HIV/AIDS campaign and developed a Breast Cancer advertising campaign. She participated in a Women's Leadership seminar in China hosted by Women's Academy for the Future of Women and supported fundraising events for non-profit organizations, including Dayemi Tariqat and For Kid's Sake. Samira holds a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication & Media Arts with a MAGNA CUM LAUDE award and a Master's degree in International Relations from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Nasim Ahmed serves FFB as the Assistant Manager of Finance and Admin exhibiting over 8 years of experience. With a creative and sharp mind, he navigates complex issues with ease, crafting innovative solutions to achieve financial and admin goals. From his experience working with ADD International Bangladesh and Ogroni Informatix Limited Development Project funded by UKAID, EU, CAFOD & CBM, he is no stranger to challenges. Confident and determined, he is ready to take on any task thrown his way and deliver optimum satisfaction to the organisation. Nasim holds an MBA in Accounting from National University, Bangladesh.
Mustare Ahamed Madobe
Research Associate
Mustare Ahamed Madobe is the only member from FFB assigned to Bangladesh Agriculture and Research Institute (BARI) as a full-time Research Associate in the Biotechnology Division where she practises her skills and knowledge in plant genetics, genetic engineering, tissue culture, plant pathology, plant breeding and so on. She worked on morphological and molecular characterization of maize inbred populations during her Master’s research. As a young researcher, she is passionate about developing the agro-sector through biotechnological approaches and is on an agenda to eradicate global hunger. Previously, Mustare held the position of Telemarketing Research Officer at Supreme Seed Company, where she specialised in agro-based digital marketing, communication, and consultancy demonstrating outstanding leadership skills with constant guidance and support to her team. Mustare firmly believes that sustainable growth can be achieved through the collaborative efforts of individuals, coupled with advancements in science and technology, nurtured in an enabling environment.
Abdul Mannan

Abdul Mannan is a skilled professional in the field of video editing and motion graphics design, currently serving as Associate- Multimedia & Communication at FFB. With over 5 years of experience, he is known for his ability to create visually appealing and professional content with ease. Prior to his current role, Mannan held positions as Graphic & Video Content Creator at Friends of Freedom in New York and Video & Motion Editor at FARGO - Safe & Nutritious Food. He honed his craft by completing Certificate Courses in Motion Graphics from Motion School and Video Editing from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute. Outside of his professional endeavors, Mannan enjoys indulging in his hobbies, which include reading books, watching movies, and cooking for his loved ones.
Shomia Nahar Nanchi
Associate- Project Management & Communication
Shomia joined FFB as a fresh graduate in our Management Trainee Program. Upon completion of her Traineeship, she has on boarded as an Associate. She contributes to the core management with various central and subsidiary tasks such as content development, scientific research, media tracking, and formulation of communication briefs. She has graduated from BRAC University with a BS in Biotechnology and a minor in Business. She has been working as a Content Writer at several distinct firms since 2019. Additionally, she has an on-going research collaboration with Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Hospital, Dhaka. Shomia recognizes consumers as the key stakeholders of agri-biotechnological innovations and firmly believes that without advocacy, innovation is futile.
Farah Kabir
Management Trainee
Farah Kabir plays the dynamic role of a Management Trainee at FFB. She has completed B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Dhaka. She was honoured with the prestigious Dean’s List of Honor due to her exceptional academic performance. Prior to joining FFB, she worked as a Project Coordinator at a charity crowdfunding platform, Give Bangladesh Foundation, acquiring 3 years of experience in the development sector. She worked as a Medical Intern at Evercare Hospital, Dhaka. She identifies with collaborative and communicative style of problem solving. She is a BYLC graduate and has attended their 10th Youth Leadership Summit. Also, as an entrepreneur, Farah strongly believes in women empowerment and engagement in all sectors. In addition to her educational and work background, she has a gift for music, art, and baking.
Fariha Afrin Mustafa
Management Trainee
Fariha Afrin, has joined FFB as a Management Trainee. She deals with agri biotechnological policy advocacy, which requires her to work closely with researchers and stay abreast of the latest developments in the field. She is responsible for meeting with the biotech researcher community, planning workshops, events, tracking media coverage, and assisting the core management with her knowledge in agriculture. Her impressive academic performance in BS Botany earned her the prestigious Dean's Award from the Faculty of Biological Science at Dhaka University. Additionally, she received a National Science and Technology fellowship for her MS research in Plant Molecular Ecology. Her internship in the Soil and Environment laboratory at BCSIR exhibit her keen interest in research. Apart from her professional and academic pursuits, Fariha has a knack for calligraphy and painting, exposing her creativity and ability to think outside the box.
Kashfia Zaman

Kashfia Zaman, a self-driven individual with a strong work ethic, working as a Management Trainee at FFB. Her everyday activities cover a wide range of sectors, including finance, admin, procurement, content creation, research, and monitoring media reports. She is an Economics graduate from East West University. During her student life she has worked as Freelance Writer, Content Writer, and Education Coordinator. As a development enthusiast, Kashfia is determined to make a positive difference among people. Her knowledge of economics spans a variety of development fields, including microfinance, education, food, and agriculture, all of which offer the potential to change lives. She is vital to FFB for her exceptional patience in handling issues and capacity to propose rational solutions.
Fatin Hasnat

Fatin Hasnat serves a versatile role as a Management Trainee at FFB. He is a BBA graduate with a concentration in Human Resource Management from North South University. He completed his Internship at Devour World Ltd, where he was positioned in the Human Resource Department. He has a basic understanding of HRIS, HRP, Appraisal Systems, etc. He has previously worked as a Community Manager for a cloud-based kitchen in Dhaka. Fatin is skilled in customer communication, query management, and social media management tools, with a keen interest in the prospect of GM varieties nationally, making him a great prospect for FFB.

Dr. Sheila Ochugboju is a futurist, international development expert and communication specialist who has been working in research science and international development for more than 15 years. She most recently served as Head of Strategic Communications for the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). In addition to senior management roles in Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria, she has worked with international think tanks, various United Nations agencies, multilateral institutions and philanthropic organizations across Europe, Africa and Asia. Sheila is an inaugural TED Africa Fellow and co-founder of Africa Knows, a knowledge management and media consultancy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in medical biochemistry and a Ph.D. in plant biochemistry from the University of London and completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in baculovirus expression at the University of Oxford. Sheila, who has four grown children, currently resides in London and will be relocating to Ithaca, New York.

Ronnie Coffman serves as International Professor of Plant Breeding and Director of International Programs of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University. He also serves as Principal Investigator of the Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project (ABSPII), the Durable Rust Resistance in Wheat project, the Agricultural Innovations Partnership, and the NextGen Cassava Project. Previous positions include Associate Dean for Research and Director, Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station; Chair of the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, and Plant Breeder at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Coffman is the recipient of the 2013 World Agriculture Prize.
Dr. Sarah Davidson Evanega

Sarah Davidson Evanega serves as International Professor of Plant Breeding (adjunct) and Senior Associate Director of International Programs of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University. She is the Sr. Associate Director of the Durable Rust Resistance in Wheat Project a 66 million dollar project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the UK Department for International Development that is based in International Programs (IP-CALS) at Cornell University, but involves project partners from over 20 institutions around the world, all working together to protect the world’s wheat from stem rust. Sarah also leads IP-CALS gender working group, AWARE (Advancing Women in Agriculture through Research and Education.

Dr. Karim Maredia is a Professor and Senior Associate to the Dean in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Michigan State University (MSU). He serves as the Director of the World Technology Access (WorldTAP) Program. Dr. Maredia has worked in numerous international development projects funded by the USAID, USDA, UN-FAO, the World Bank, Rockefeller Foundation, Winrock International, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to joining MSU in 1989, Dr. Maredia worked with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Mexico as a Research Scientist for three years. For his contributions to International Human Resources Development, Dr. Maredia was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree (Doctor Honoris Causa) by the University of Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru in May 2009. In March 2010, Dr. Maredia received the prestigious Ralph Smuckler Award for Advancing International Studies and Programs at Michigan State University. Since 2017, Dr. Maredia has been serving as a Member of the African Union (AU) High Level Panel on Emerging Technologies. In December 2018, this panel received the Science Diplomacy Award at the Science Forum in South Africa.

Anthony Shelton is an applied insect ecologist Professor at Cornell University who works on developing knowledge for national and international insect pest management programs. He works with public and private sectors but more closely with regulatory agencies and public policy issues in agriculture. Since 2015, he has been the Director of a USAID-funded project for insect-resistant eggplant in Bangladesh and the Philippines. He was recognized with many prestigious awards such as IPM Team Award (2013) Entomological Society of America, L. O. Agriculturist Md. Hamidur Rahman is the former Director-General of the Department of Agricultural Extension of Bangladesh and currently, he is a member of the Annual Performance Expert Pool, Ministry of Agriculture. He graduated in Agricultural Science from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 1981 and started his career as a Thana Extension Officer in the Department of Agricultural Extension. During his working life, he worked as a field officer in the Seed Certification Agency from 1985 to 1996 and in various projects of the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation-funded inter cooperation in Liaoning from 2001 to 2010. Prior to joining as Director-General, he was the Project Director of the 2nd ADB-funded Crop Diversification Project under the Department of Agricultural Extension. He has participated in various training and workshops in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Madagascar, Uganda.
